Taking this idea from some of the other mods. I'll dedicate this blog posts to all questions, statements, comments, or rants about the following:
Reviews: If you have a question on what is abusive, or want to know if a certain review is abusive. You can post a link to the reviews or copy and paste the review here and I'll come by and answer that question and give a solid answer to it. Also, if you want to know if saying something is acceptable, this is also the place. Futher information maybe needed such as link to submission for complicated issues.
Bans: If you received a ban from me now or in the past, you can address it here by copying and pasting the message sent to you. I'll read it and let you know why it was first deleted, and why you were banned for it. If you think it is unjust, you can plead you case here.
Deleted reviews: If you get a deleted review, from anyone not just me, you can copy and paste it here and I'll try to give you an answer why it was deleted. No guarantee I can make you understand at the end of it though.
Why a certain review isn't deleted: All flag reviews aren't deleted. If you want to know why a certain review remains, copy and paste here or send link.
The way I mod: Here's your chance to speak your mind about about me in a "CIVILIZE" fashion. If you hate me, I'm willing to listen to your thoughts and give you the same courtesy back. However, I won't entertain flaming assholes who do nothing but spout obsceneties or pointless ranting without a purpose.
The whistle in general This goes for audio reviews, flash reviews, and also blown flashes. Want to anything and everything about the whistle. Ask here> All accept how much points to get to a certain. The scales aren't given. Sorry.
Why I was modded: I guess only fair to answer this question too given the circumstances. Again, speak your mind civilally. Don't mind if you cuss or insult me to a certain extent, but at least have effort and points behind your arguement.
Last, I guess me in general. Say what you want, (to a certain extent which I will determine upon reading) about my activites overall. I have to be able to take constuructive critism like everyone else. So this is a way for me to go grow also.
Pretty sure all of you been seeing userpages about the review guidelines as well as the abuse thread for reviews. I guess I'll take the time to explain why each rule is there and what it is supposed to prevent. I'll go through each one and explain in better detail so less confusion when giving a review or flagging a review for the next person.
* Stay on the topic of the submission and do not make personal remarks or insults towards the author. This is a big offense. Telling artists "You suck!", "You should go kill yourself!", "You are gay!" etc., will get you banned and you may lose your account. Without our contributors Newgrounds wouldn't be what it is, so we take seriously any insults directed at them by reviewers.
This one is self explainatory. Authors shouldn't have to put up with insults when trying to contribute to a site. Last thing a person wants to hear is that they should kill themselves after putting hours on a project. Think of it like this, your in school and you work hard on a paper. Put in many hours, and think you did your best. You present to the teacher, and the response you get is you suck and kill yourself. Now, wouldn't that piss you off? K? K.
Also, prevent band wagons. One person does something, other people might join in for the fun.
* Do not post TONS and TONS of crappy reviews just to get high in the rankings. If we catch someone doing this we will delete all their reviews - wouldn't that be a pain in the ass? Take your time and write a sincere review for every movie you wish to critique. Make sure your review is relative to the submission. Reviews that are found to offer no benefit to the author may be deleted.
This is to prevent stat hounds and spam. Giving a review is a privilege. Not a right. If all a person is doing is just doing reviews so their profile looks active, then they are missing the point of the review. The reviews are to help the author improve the submission. What gets most people is the line: "Reviews that are found to offer no benefit to the author may be deleted."
Basically, what this says, if the author can't take that review, and apply it some sort of way, then it is generally unhelpful. If all you say is a flash sucks, then that is unhelpful because author doesn't know what sucks. However, if you say a flash sucks because of lack of ......, that is relative to the submission, then that is considered constructive critism and is actually encourage.
Also, this rule applies to all rankings. This includes reviewing a flash just to help it when an portal award. When people do this, they take away from honest flash artists who let their work speak for themselves, not alts or E spam buddies.
Some of you wondering why reviews rated high but just compliments are allowd. Techincally, they aren't abusive because they do provide benefit to the author. Everyone links a pat on a back for good work.
* Do not use the review space for the purpose of promoting things. Stick to reviewing the movies - we don't want to hear about how great your website is. Also, posting links to websites that reward you for sending hits is prohibited; we will delete your account for the first offense with no warning. Posting unrelated links is also prohibited and will result in a ban.
Very serious rule here. There are plenty of other areas on newgrounds for you to promote your website or whatever. Userpage, sig, some relative threads etc. The reviews are for you to help the author, not whore yourself for your own gain.
* Do not flood the review title or body. Examples would be long strings of characters or words with no breaks or repeating words or phrases over and over. Do not submit images made from text and characters, as this will also get you banned.
Prevent spam. Want to keep it classy to a certain extent. If i was a visitor to a site, and I saw posts with nothing but repeating characters all over the place, I would think that the majority of the site was just a spam fest. Ascii art is 98% of the time is pointless. No one really wants to see an overly used middle finger, gun, bunny, cat, or whatever else these days. it's stupid. Smiles are ok if done decent, but anything more than that is useless text spam most of the time.
* Do not use reviews to express your feelings that the entry should be BLAMMED. If you post "BLAM this" or something similar you will be banned. Use the review option to tell the author how they can improve their work.
Ties in with the other reviews. Insulting and not needed. No one personally wants to hear that there flash should be deleted. Also, saying blam this might convince people to just vote zero blindly without any effort of viewing.
* Do not use the review field to address other user's reviews you didn't agree with. You are to be reviewing the submission, not other people's reviews.
Your focus is supposed to be on author and authors submission. Flame wars are generally spam and there is a pm system which you can use to talk with other users.
* If you believe an entry is stolen, do not comment about it in your review. If you are wrong, you may convince other users that the entry is stolen and you may cause a legitimate entry to receive an unfairly low score, or have the whistle blown on it. Use the whistle option, if available, to flag the entry as stolen when you believe that is the case. If there is no whistle option available (the entry is no longer under judgement) contact Wade with as many details as you can about the stolen Flash and where you think it was stolen from.
Saying someone stole a flash is a serious allegation. Primarly because this is a flash site. Don't want people to accuse someone in reviews because alot users tend to believe everything they read. One person says it stolen then just a bandwagon for others to do the same. Also, don't want to encourage people to flag a submission unfairly or vote zero blindly.
* If you think a submission doesn't belong on the front page of the site or shouldn't be featured in special sections of the site, keep it to yourself. The submissions on the front page and in special sections of the site are put there by our staff, not by the author. Keep your focus on how the person who submitted might improve their work.
Talking about front page or special sections is irrelevant to the flash quality. This ties in with one of the prior rules of staying on topic, also, admins do things for a reason and don't need to hear BS every time they do make a move. Gets annoying.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that your the first mod that actually sort of stuck out at me as a role model, and I've always been one to look up to you and respect you as a sort of "Father Figure" and that if I am ever modded I want to be like you, but with a small dash of eyelovepoozy, so 3/4 of me is a good and respect worthy moderator while 1/4 of me is a dick that pwns n00bs really hard. I wanted to ask you want you think of the other mods, and my only other question is how many mods are aloud at one time? I really hope you find this reply worthy, good luck modding!

Uhh.. I guess the reviews mentioned above were deleted. Must have been someones's mistake or something but there gone now. So since my previous question had been made pointless I'll ask this: What happens if a mod makes a mistake (everyone's human of course) on going over reviews?
Mistakes happen. But for most part, either non issue or can be corrected easily.

Hey man, I have a question I hope you can answer. It seems that after me and some other people flagged some of these reviews (http://pokesheit.newgrounds.com/revie ws/flash/1) our whistles turned into garbage. I'm pretty sure these reviews are agianst the rules, but I thought I'd double check with you since your an awesome mod. So are these reviews worthy of flagging? (And if not why? Kinda of upset at losing whistle points and not knowing why, hopefully not for some other reason. Jeez, this is a text wall.)

If a flagged a review but it wasn't enough to get a mods attention, so it was just left to rot in the piles and piles of submissions on Newgrounds, what happens to the flag? is it automaticly cleared after a while and I get a penalty? or what?
Those flags will remain there till ng staff or mod fines either manually or it is flag by other user(s) later on.
This is why some normals have trouble getting stared because of the weak whistle. Don't worry, it's recorded till flagged hard enough.

I have a question on staff members reviews, recently Johnney (yes the same one that made tankmen) posted an abusive review. Sure enough we found it and flagged it, then someone said not too because we'll get banned for doing so, and another one said the mods won't but will completely ignore it and lower your whistle score. Which one is true? and do staff/mods get immunity from the rules?
You can't get banned from flagging a review.
However, ng staff and mods have protected reviews so flagging them will not earn you whistle points. In those cases, we would just clear without penalty most of the time. If the review is a legit review though, we do clear with penalties.

One wuestion- When you delete a review, will I DEFINITELY get a PM from M-Bot (making sure its not banned) because according to NG Log, i have had 6 reviews deleted over 2 days :)
If that review is deleted manually by either a admin or mod, you should get a m bot message.
However, if that flash is deleted, then you won't get any messages in your inbox.
I'm not log into NG log, but I did notice that the amount of my reviews went from 99 to 98 one day so an admin must of deleted a flash I reviewed.

Son of bitch I wrote a 600 word review and couldn't submit it because I am review banned. The mod whoever they are was to rude to make M-bot send me a pm to alert me of such travesty. Well fuck you little snitch, oh and I am going to kill everyone that flagged my audio review and then kill everyone the review mod loves.
Whenever a review is deleted, you get an m-bot notice.
So either you have the m-bot blocked, or you deleted the ban message on accident.

Well, two reasons:
One: If an an entry is stolen, you cannot state that in reviews. Thats clear cut in the review guidelines.
Two: That flash, however, was stolen and it is deleted.

Alright, you have a garbage whistle because you flagged reviews or flashes incorrectly and you were punshed for doing so.
When you flag a review, and it reaches a limit, a admin/mod can generally do two things:
Delete a review
Clear the flags
If a review is abusive, it will be deleted and you get the points.
If the flags are cleared, the flagger will get negative whistles points.
If they accumulate enough negative or positive whistle points, their whistle go up or down.
In your case, you flagged reviews or flashes that shouldn't of been flagged, and you were punished for it. Now your whistle is broken and carries no weight.

Read the review guidelines, and use that to determine whether a review is abusive or not. All flagged reviews aren't deleted. Some are cleared and punishes the flaggers for flagging incorrectly.
Becareful of wording. A person can say something sucks, as long as they don't insult the author in the process and offer constructive critism.
To start out, just flag guaranteed abusive reviews. for example, reviews claiming an entry is stolen, "blam this" or something similar in the review, chain letters, ascii art, and blantant insults.

Before reading this, note that I am only hiding behind an alt, because you banned my main account from commenting on your userpage. This is not SPAM, ABUSE, or FLAMING in any way. This comment is simply aimed toward expressing my opinion on an individual. Newgrounds should never have that right taken away from it, not because we have an idiot moderator going power crazy or because of anything else.
Mr. Kidray76, I'd like to start by saying the way you handle things is very biased. You delete my reviews if they have small notes on it like, "I didn't like this, but this was ok," however, you neglect to delete reviews created by people such as Wonchop and other artists you believe are talented, simply because of that fact. As a moderator of a multi-hundred-thousand dollar website with over a million users, it is your duty to be fair and just on the subject of reviews, which is not simply text, no, it is the heart of the people's opinions, and you play favorites with it.
For shame.
Next I'd like to point out that you are very unreasonable. It has been said in the past that Newgrounds has "shitty" mods. Well sir, I'm sorry to tell you, but you revolutionize this fact. You will simply go around all day deleting reviews and banning users, simply because of one negative opinion.
It is understandable to delete SPAMMY reviews, of course, but I think the job would be more fit in the hands of someone who could actually differentiate between SPAM and CRITICISM. This is why I believe that you should be demodded.
Review mods should be non biased, fair, and inable to play favorites with people. Surely, they should be allowed to express their opinions (just like everyone else should be!), but they should not stick their opinions to everyone's throat like a sharp bloody knife.
You like Wonchop. Me and WPS don't. (among other people) We don't see eye to eye. Why should that be a reason to hate us, and most of all, use your blood moderation powers to "get back" at us by deleting our reviews and showing them to the public.
I'd like you to know that the people who run Newgrounds are professional men. They wouldn't be making thousands of dollars if they were petty and biased towards people. I'd like you to also know, Kidray76, that YOU are unprofessional, and above all, certainly petty and biased.
On top of all of this, you have no right to say who should be able to express their opinion, especially when you, sir, have no movies or art to display on any account here at newgrounds, or on any other site.
In the end, I strongly believe you should be demodded. Someone so low-grade as to make it their point to get back at the users under them positionwise, should not have the glory, fame, and even ability to shit on the opinions of the public. You, Kidray, are not worthy of your title, and I hope you understand.
But you certainly won't.
It's clear to me that I'll be told off with a comment such as, "Your reviews were abusive and I deleted them," or "Wonchop is an amazing artist with many awards, and this is an obvious fact."

Just, execution is the key is the key to success. Just because a person makes a pokemon movie, doesn't mean it will welcome with warm arms. Some trends work against popularity. For instance, sprites. Some people like them, some people don't. Matter of personal preference.
Honestly, not a big fan of brittney spear flashes, but K-Fed On Fire, I did enjoy. Just because they executed in different fashion.

My reasoning is because as of late, I have decided to further my efforts to become a model reviewer of the audio portal (and perhaps eventually be asked to have the chance to MOD it), and as such, I want to make sure the only reviews worth keeping are one that a) Don't contain unnecessary vulgar language, and b) Give a clear, thorough thought as to my critique of the music, and the first review I ever left sadly does not meet these new requirements.
I ask that you PLEASE not ban me from reviewing even if such action demands it, because I come to you BEFOREHAND asking to erase it, and if you check my more recent reviews, you will see that a LARGE MAJORITY (of not ALL) are quite lengthy but informative in intent and CONtent.

Yeah, umm, I didn't see any audio reviews that were abusive. All non abusive reviews aren't deleted, not even on user requests. Honestly, I say let them stay and not ruin the hard work. Besides, after so many reviews, the older ones are faded out from memory anyway.

The submissions on the front page and in special sections of the site are put there manually, meaning someone on our staff liked the submission. Keep your focus on how the person who submitted might improve their work.
I don't search for reasons, people flag, brought to my attention. I handle accordingly.

also, HOnestly, I find it rather pointless to ask for a ban for an alt and then just going to m ain. Why not just ignore that other account.
All mods take their responsiblity seriously. Not just me. That goes from the forum mods, right down to icon mods. When given the privelege to directly affect a site, "seriously" is the only way to approach and handle it.
As for banning an alt just to go to a main, I remember that thread and I say rather pointless. Can't think of a reason why someoen would want to do that.
