Never Believe Car Salesman

Posted by kidray76 Apr. 18, 2009 @ 9:56 PM EDT

Time for an update, figure this should give some wtf's and a few lulz. I'm going to talk about my experience with buying a car and why to never believe a car salesman on their word.

Quick background history. from my previous news posts, got a new job, but to get to and from the job, I had to borrow money from my mom to pay for my old car to get fixed. So 444 dollars in debt already.

Unfortunately, my job is two counties over and my old car is a 1996 chrysler "I over heat and brake down every two months and have over 130,000 thousand miles" concorde. So, one of the first things on my list to do is of course get a new car so that I can travel back and forth safely.

For the first month, I drove my old car, and quickly learn it wasn't meant to be the go to car like it used to. So mid way through November, I started the process of getting a new car. I knew I definetly didn't want a used car, but at least something no older than a year, and never previously owned, under 200 miles. After talking with my mom, she had a classmate that was a salesman. My bother and myself went to the dealership to check out some cars.

Overall, I knew I wanted something big because I'm a big guy, and also I didn't want to have a car payment over 500 dollars a month, and car not over 23,000. After looking a few, I did settle on a 2008 chevy Impala. Picture at the bottom.

The salesman was all happy and stuff, and I told him about what I was looking to pay, and also I was really just looking because I really wanted to pay my mom back. He gave a "seemingly sweet offer". He said, "If you can take this car off the lot today, we'll pay your mom back, and also no down payment" I was like wonderful, and my first payment wouldn't be due until end of next month.

So time for negotiations, the first offer was 500 something for 60 months, no money down. I already knew I couldn't afford that, so he says "How much a month can you do" and I say, " I can do no higher than 450 a month." So he runs to his boss, and comes back with an offer of 465 a month, for 60 months" I say deal, and lets do it.

So all the paper work starts, I started off with a great rate, at a bank, not a lender. Low interest, and also all the works they offer like free oil changes, warranties. The whole nine yards. So I sign everything, and drive off with my car.

Few days letter, I get a call telling me the bank did not approve me for the loan because of limited credit history. Of course, I knew that because hell, I just got my first career and best thing I ever had was credit cards. So I go back, and negotiations begin again. At first everything was understandable, and the manager says "We did find a lender, but unfortunately, can't do any warranties, for 60 months, and also monthly payment has to be 500 a month, but he says I can give the warranties back if we don't have to pay the 500 dollar rebate." I say, "without the rebate, I can't get this car because I have to pay back my mom." He then says, "alright, straight car purchase, no warranties, 60 months, and rebate with a lender"

My hands are tied at this point because needed a car, and out of options. I didn't want a co signer, couldn't do a down payment then, and WAS NOT going to ask anyone for money. So I accepted the terms, re did the paper work, and off again.

Now, here's where "don't trust car salesman." I waited for weeks for the rebate check, and every time I went back to the salesman, only he said was "I'm working on it, call tomorrow." So I call tomorrow, he says "huh, mananger in a meeting, come back next week, I'll have it resolved." I come back next week, still same old bull shit.

So this continues on for the month, till finally he says, the man you need to talk to is across the street. He is the new owners. So I go talk to the man, and says "Yeah, I've talked with the salesman, some reason, paper was left off, come back next week for the answer."

I come back next "he's gone". The following day, gone. The day after gone. So at this point, I'm feeling all pissed and lied to. The reason why the 500 was so important, for the month of December, I counted on the rebate for everything else to be paid. Since it didn't come, it put me in the bind. My car note was due, and also my credit card payment was due. I KNEW not to miss my first payment of my car note, that just a big NO. So what I had to do was, charged 563 dollars to my credit card to make my first car payment, and use my regular pay check to pay my credit card. I was just going to use the rebate to my car note, and regular check to pay mom back and credit card.

When you pay a car note with a credit card, and you can't just do it like paying a phone bill online. I had to use western union to do it. They charged me 63 dollars for a transaction, on top of the 500. So now, I'm out 563 dollars of money, not even counting the compounded daily interest.

I tell the salesman that, and he was like I'm so sorry, I never see this before. At first i believed him, considering he was 60 something, but I quickly figure out he was full of bull shit.

Several attempts letter for an answer, I finally stopped the third party approach, and said to the salesman, "For now, this is between me and you, but I'm about to take this to court." Seriously, I do have a friend that is in law school and my sister is also a lawyer (well, graduates next month). The salesman tried to act all sympathetic and what not and said you gotta do what you gotta do and if you need me in court, I'll be there on your side.

Alright, to the present, after talking with my friend, he advised me on what to do, and not to do of course. So I came up with this plan, I asked myself

Question: "What can a salesman, not resists"
Answer: A sale.
BINGO. Made sense. What I did was, I went to another salesman, and said "I'm interested in getting another car for my fiance, she drives a 1999 ford POS, but before I can do that, I have to get this resolved" She takes my message, and the very next fucking day, I get a call from the manager telling me "OH we found the paper work, come and lets talk about it." I hang up, and I'm like, "WTF, you faggots couldn't do that two months ago"?

So I went to talk with the guy, and now the missing paper work comes up. Turns out what happened was, "The manager, DIDN'T SIGN THE OWE FORM. Which states I was due a rebate. So the accounting office never processed it, and just disregared. He handed me the papers out my file, and also made a note.

Out of the 500 dollars I was due, THE FUCKING SALESMAN MADE A 25% COMMISSION OFF OF IT, and technically he owes 175 dollars of it. At this point, I'm just fucking enraged with anger. The whole fucking time he was telling me the new owner fucked up, HIM AND HIS OFFICE fucked up. So I get the paper work, and I say thank you, and of course to keep up the act, I say "I'll be back for another car" (I'll be an idiot to ever buy a car from them, but gotta keep it believable). So now, I go back to the salesman the next day, and told him, I got the paper work now. And basically like this, "I'm going to court now, and in the lawsuit, YOU will be named as a party as well. I'm just telling you this as a man and being honest (considering I'm the only honest one here). He gets this blank look, and says, "well, do what you have to do."

And guys, here's for the lulz. Guess what dealership this whole mess is with? You guessed it
"G 'fucking' M". It turns out, they are getting sued by alot of people for doing the same thing, and also they are filing for bankruptcy in my town. So even when I take this court and win, the money will just trickle in over the next 20 years since they have to file that has debt owed and a another court will handle pay outs and shit. I'm going to write up the complaint and submit that ASAP. It's April now, so best do it before statue of limitations are up.

So, here's what I learned about buying a car.

1. Do your home work.
Not just on the car, but also the dealership. Sometimes a car is bad because who sales it, not because who made it.

2. If possible, have a down payment. You'll have great bargaining power then. Banks/lenders will be more willing to cut a better deal.

3. Never take the first offer. Trust me, you can haggle it down. Also don't be afraid to end ties all together and come back and try again. You are the customer. Salesman are good at convincing, but you gotta be strong enough to say "Bull shit"

4. Try different places, sometimes you can play one dealership against the next.
When you talk with the salesman, after you do your homework, kindly mentioned other cars your interested in getting. This could back fire, but more than likely they'll do whatever it is to make you stay.

5. Although, for me for example, not possible at first, try to have great credit. That will mean the whole difference of payments, interests, and also months. Banks are being even pickier these days since a lot of bad decisions have been made. So make it easy to lend to.

6. Try not to buy a car on the first visit.
Salesman will say anything to get you to buy then. Every dealership I went to, I heard this line "Do it today, car won't be here tomorrow" and "What can we do to seal this deal today". Take your time, no need to rush, remember, your the customer, paying a 10 20 30 thousand car today or next week won't kill a seller or make a difference in their profit for the month.

7. Show strength.
Either with numbers or just knowledge. If your a first time buyer, bring someone with you to haggle with. It's harder to convince two or three people, than it is one on one. Also make a fuss, state you can get this same car somewhere else for cheaper.

8. Know your finances, if you can't do a 20000 car, down grade. Plenty of great 15,000 cars on the market which work just the same.

9. Test drive like hell
Car salesman are more than willing to bring a car. Drive as many as you like. Even if you don't plan on buying it, drive it anyway for the lulz. Be sure you get the car that fits you comfortably.

10. Last thing I can tell you from my experience, quote and shop online.
Some car dealerships have calculators online which can estimate how much you'll be paying for the car giving down payments, credit history, months etc.

What I've been up to....

Posted by kidray76 Sep. 30, 2008 @ 12:04 PM EDT

Edit: October 1, 2008
Alright, I went to the second interview today, and I spent a few minutes talking with the president of the school. Afterwards, went back to the HR department and talked with the HR head. And turns out, I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!

I start work on the 20th and will be making close to 3,000 a month. Just the downside is, they only get paid ONCE a month, and the pay period is at the END of the monnth. So basically, I'll get a partial check end of this month, and pray I'll be able to make it last all the way till the end of next month. Just, come December, I'll be fucking awesome with money. I might just head to a strip club just to blow 200 dollars.

Time for a new news post. In August, I recently graduated from Georgia College & State University with a B. A. in Management Information Systems. If you want to check out the classes I took, you can read the course catalog there.

So now, i start the long process of trying to find a CAREER. Not just a job. What I define as the difference between job and career is the following:

1. Is this something I could see myself doing for years to come?
2. Is this something I'm doing temporarily till I find something better?
3. Can I survive COMFORTABLY doing this to my standards?

If the first and third one is a no, then it's a job IMO. If the second second is a yes, then it's a job as well. In any event, I've been applying to different jobs that I think I can qualified and one of which is at this college: Central Georgia Technical College in Macon, GA The position I applied for is Financial Aid Specialist. What person does is, using SQL and Banner database, they determine who is eligible to receive state and federal financial aid. Such as Hope Scholarship and/or Pell Grant.

For all those who don't know about those types of aids, Hope Scholarship is a scholarship that is awarded purely on grades. If a person has a 3.0 grade average, and for universities, have at least a 1000 on his or her SAT's or certain number for ACT's, he or she can money to put towards tuition. And for all state schools, junior colleges, and tech schools, they can go to school for free on the condition they can maintain a 3.0. A pell grant is a type of federal that is awarded just on income, so low income people are able to go school and receive help finishing. And yes, people can receive both, so they might even make a profit from going to school. Also, they can receive any other aid they want in conjunction with the two, so in Georgia, it can be profitable, "LITERALLY" for someone to pursue an education.

In any event, back on subject, I applied for that job, and had an interview a couple of weeks ago. Apparently, the people are interested in knowing more about me, so they proceeded to call my references, and tomorrow, I have the final interview with the president of the school. I am soooo excited for this interview and seriously hoping I can get this job. Considering that I know have about 8 thousand dollars worth of student loans to pay back, and about a 4 thousand credit card bill. On top of that, my car needs to be fixed and I have a son and a fiancee.

Crosses fingers for tomorrow :)

Computer Woes

Posted by kidray76 Aug. 29, 2008 @ 11:48 AM EDT

Well, not my issue, but mothers problem. I got a neice that routinely fucks up a computer. When I say fuck up, I don't mean the usual mess like always freezing it up or unplugging stuff. I mean literally, doing shit to a computer to it almost renders useless.

Story:
So about a week ago, mom calls me down one night to fix the computer. I'm thinking, "ok, probably just a cord." Turned out, much worse than I expected. The cheif complaint was unable to connect to the internet. So I turned the computer on, and within seconds of start up, I am met with a series of pops up from spy ware.

Turned out my neice probably downloaded every possible virus known to the internet. I mean seriously, this hard drive was full of spy ware, ad ware, viruses, trojans, cookies and programs. I was thoroughly surprised the computer even cut on. Especially one of those cheap, 500 dollar walmart HP computers.

In any event, the two major spy wares was WinSpyWareProtect and ASC (Anti Spy Check).
These two things was literrally blocking access to the wireless internet. And everyone knows about spyware, it can not be typically removed by just control panel >> Add Delete >> And unistall method.
It takes alot more to get rid of it.

So, what I did was, on my other computer. I went and download the .exe file for ccleaner. Then I remarkebly installed it on the infected the computer. I ran it, and it found over 815 mbs of pure shit. Then I ran it on the registry THREE TIMES to fix it. So finally it got rid of all those errors.

Next, I had to do some research. I went to yahoo and searched how to get rid of ASC. Came up with this youtube instructional video:

.

That was great, what it did was, made the computer not automatically start the program during start up. So now the all scans can delete it because something can't be deleted if it's runnings for windows. Like trying to delete an open word file, it won't let you unless you close it first. So now that is done....

So next step was to get a good anti virus and anti spy. So I went and download avast again on my jump drive, upload to infected to computer, install. Then, I went and go spy bot search and destory.
Ran both at the same time. And OH MAN. You just wouldn't believe how many times avast went off saying it found something, and how many times spy bot found something. I swear, they were going off every few seconds.

So two hours later, both have finished and, no lie, there was over 275 different spy ware, viruses, trojans that were about to be deleted. So spy bot goes and deletes all it could around 252. Then it had to restart to get rid of the rests. So another 40 mintue scan at start up for memory, and then another 30 minute scan after memory check to get rid of the next 40 something. It gets rid of 30 more shit. And finally, all the spy ware, trojans, viruses apparently are gone. So I run ccleaner again, 10 more mbs of shit, and run the registry cleaner 4 more times to fix the computer completely.

And to top it off, gotta run defrag (obv) just to put all files in order.

So here is a lesson, DO NOT LET MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS ON A COMPUTER. THEY WILL EVENTUALLY FUCK IT UP. Edit: Ok, forgot she's a in highschool now in 9th grade, but close enough.

Serious Topic (No, Really)

Posted by kidray76 Jun. 26, 2008 @ 12:31 AM EDT

Alright, usually my news posts are either for a purprose or to act silly, but this one, kinda want honest opinions about what I'm about to write.

Ok, so I got this female friend, which I've known since highschool. She's mad cool, in my opinion sexiest, nicest/biggest ass you would want, educated with two degrees (BA and AS), and very affectionate. Everall just cool peoples. She currently has a b/f who appears borderline gay/crazy.

What I mean by borderline gay/crazy, almost seems like he doesn't really appreciate her or what she's trying to do. Picture this, if you had a woman, who LIKED to have sex and be affectionate, willing to do whatever takes to make a relationship work, WILLING goes to strip clubs with her man and gets lap dances, cooks, cleans, works, and everything under the blue moon. You would think "Hey, this is the perfect woman." Apparently, this guy has some sort of complex and doesn't get that. From what she was saying, he doesn't like going anywhere, and could possibily cheating on her with a lady from his job. Not a 100%, but signs tend to point that way. However, even with all that, still trying to settle down.

I was talking to her last night, and she was talking about how he was acting and what all she was trying to do make it work. Ranging from cooking his meals, phone calls to see if he was ok, shining shoes, paying bills etc. And some reason, he doesn't like washing his ass. (I almost lol, but kept my composure.) Almost sounded like she was crying (or tired, but anyway). Just got me thinking, my fiancee, she doesn't really cook, NEVER go to a strip club with me, taking showers with her only once in a blue moon, blah blah blah, and I still think I found the one. However, this guy found a woman WHO WILLING GOES to strip clubs. I mean male strip clubs, no male strippers. Do you know I would litereally jizz in my pants right now if my woman out of no where said "Hey, lets go to your favorite strip club and I'll buy you a lap dance." Had to admit, just the idea gets my heart racing.

This guy is getting literally EVERYTHING. I think i read somewhere that the perfect woman is a mute nympho who cooks and cleans and loyal. Well, take away the mute part, and presto, she's that woman. I know that everyone isn't perfect, and some people just aren't perfect for each other. Shit, Halle Berry been divorced twice and so has Will Smith. So I'm pretty sure there is down side about her, but from the outside looking in, I would be willing to over look that much.

So question I guess I have to ask, how far should someone be willing to try to make a relationship work if the next party barely putting any effort? I kinda sit back and reflect on my 6 year relationship and kinda wondered why I did all shit I did? I mean, yeah I've cheated on her ( on several times), but with the birth of my son, that kinda just changed my habits. I used to hang on dating sites all the time, but now really don't do them at all. Or is it me and I'm just missing something?

Little more background, the person I'm engaged with now, is the same woman who I was taking class with my friend in highschool. To be completely honest with you, at the time, I was more interested in my now female friend than my now fiancee. But she always had a b/f every time I talked to her, so just move on and now here where I am.

Another question, why do people just change in a relationship? Male and female. Or is it because so used to something that we just react differently?

I don't know, just one of those things I think about. For the most part, I believe in happiness and all that jazz, but at the same time, really hard to maintain that with someone. Even if compatibility is 100%. Oh well.
